The Grand Adventure: Part 8

Dakotan View

We spent most of the day yesterday within the state of South Dakota. Not that I’m complaining, but I prefer the days where you tend to pass through parts of multiple states – something about reinforcing a sense of accomplishment.

The Badlands were truly awesome, and of course we stopped in at Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse – pictures coming soon.

Today we wound our way through Yellowstone. Despite the incredibly rushed pace, we managed to see Old Faithful and the surrounding geysers/vents, stumble upon a small herd of buffalo, and buy overpriced souvenirs. Clearly a good day. The $25 minimum to get in the park, seemed rather egregious for the few hours we spent driving through it.

At least we managed to cross the border into Idaho today (via a tiny section of Montana). Idaho is one of the last stops on our little “Oregon Trail”, and it means that tomorrow night I’ll be in my own bed, which sounds absolutely fantastic…
