The Perfect Game

Today, Mark Buehrle pitched the 18th perfect game in Major League Baseball history. The elusive “perfect game” is every pitcher’s dream, but in a broader context, it is all of our dream to do what we do perfectly. Some of us are even obsessed with it.

In another sense, the market is the perfect game. It has it’s ups and downs, you can always hope to win, the future is always unknown, and there is so much at stake that it is difficult to contemplate. Maybe you too, will have that magical save, right at the last moment.

President Obama, on the other hand, seems to believe he is pitching a perfect game. And maybe he is, he just doesn’t seem to realize it’s the 2nd inning. He is spending politcal capital faster than President Bush did with Social Security privitazation – remember how that one turned out?
